A string of bonfires is lit along the Finnish coast from the North to the South and from the East to the West. Some bonfires are lit also in Sweden and in the Baltic countries.
Ancient Bonfires were lit for various reasons, as a warning to enemies or to send different messages. In recent years it has more emphasized that the fires are lit as a signal of the need to work for to keeping the Baltic Sea clean.
